Summer mornings start very early, so I got up, grabbed my camera and took a walk Manchester city centre. But it was not a normal Saturday… CONTINUES BELOW

It was an extra long weekend to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Thursday and Friday have been designated public holidays, which is very unusual in the UK.

As I strolled through central Manchester from 5am in the early summer light, I had the distinct impression that it was the morning after the day before.

The streets and squares were virtually deserted as most Mancunians decided to sleep in after their celebrations.

This meant I had the place all to myself and could shoot familiar sights which can be tricky in a busy city center.
